Engagers, this is a special thing I’m doing today. Let me move this a little bit around. This is special thing I’m doing here today because amongst many other things, you are seeing a part, big part actually of what the Professor Game Headquarters are outside of the studio. This is my living room. So we’re doing it special today because I require some space, which I don’t usually have.

in my recording studio and well, we’re doing it here in the living room. So again, welcome here once again, I hope you can hear this very, very well. As you can see, I am doing VR, like I was going to say, I’m not a VR person. That’s like a identification. don’t want to identify as something, especially as something negative as I am not a whatever. So, ⁓ I have not done a lot of VR in my life. this seems like an interesting opportunity to do so these

Pico VR glasses were lent to me by the people from Ludus And I am excited to see what we can do with this. Full disclosure, this is not the first time I’m putting on these glasses. have a little bit of training going on to be able to do this by myself because the people from Ludus, they have a platform. can see the button that I’m about to click right here. They have a specific platform, these specific glasses. So I wasn’t familiar with either.

I had to do login. Look, you’ll see right here when I click on this, this is loading a screen that is within, within Pico VR. They have this software they developed. And I have of course to log in. They have very graciously given me a test or demo or whatever that looks like. And here. So, ⁓ many of the things that they mentioned to me during the training is that these are the five ones that they have for.

what they call something like the stand alone VR experience. That is when you have these glasses that I have on right now and they are not directly connected to a PC. So if you’re connected to a PC, I think the number is something like 12 or 14 that they already have available. More of those will start to be available when you have only this, but that’s something that will be coming in the future. These are the five that I’ll get a chance to test out today.

I am going to, as you can imagine, I am going to analyze this through the lens of engagement, motivation, see how this is actually, hopefully better than what I would expect from a normal first aid use of FHC firefighting, waste management or CPR trainings. CPR, by the way, it will need, I don’t know if you’ll see it right here, but somewhere actually look, there’s a safety thing right here, which is very neat of VR. tells you, well, if you get out of this area, you’re outside your safety zone.

I intentionally didn’t put it, you know, sort of very restricted so that if I do this, I don’t go knock over a wall. But if I do this, what I get out, look, now I can see. Cause I’m going to be using a cushion like this one. and it’s, ⁓ look, look at the screen. Reset play boundary. I don’t want to reset it. think it’s Yeah, because it doesn’t allow me to knock over this, but if I come back, look at that. Safety first, ladies and gentlemen.

The idea is that these are all safety, well, except for waste management, these are all safety training. So, you know, you have to be safe with your VR. So let’s take a whack at this. Let’s do the CPR one last, because I require that element and it does not require me to use these controllers. So it’ll be kind of different. How about we start, I was testing it out right before this to make sure I could record and everything was working. Let’s start out with a use of FHC.

So about this product, this is simulation that allows you to train your students. I’m not, I don’t have my students. The idea is that I am the student. I’m the one who’s being trained on this in the correct use and handling of the fire hydrant cabinet. FHC. This scenario is in a library. Type A fire occurs. I am not sure exactly what type A fire occurs, but I’m guessing that if I do firefighting, I will get more information on that. But let’s start with this one just because I think it could be an exciting one. So the scenario includes.

Several fire extinguishers, alarm buttons, different characters appear in the exercise. You can activate it in order to stress the student. When I tried it, it didn’t have any characters. If I click training, what it’s going to do, it’s going to record it so that you can see the different performances, but I don’t care about recording it or seeing how good or bad it did. Anyways, let’s see. Let’s see what it goes. Okay. So open. Let’s take a look at the scenario and you’ll probably be hearing as well what this.

person here is giving me in the basic training duration type I fires this is a scenario okay this is scenario I got look get out my hands out of the safety zone let’s click next hello welcome there you in this video we will explain the basic controls of the simulations in order to develop its content to interact with objects you must press the trigger with your index finger this one right click will be enough lightsaber

Remember to move your hand until you see the green line before pressing the trigger. move, must move the joystick with your thumb, hold it and move the controller to select the point you want to move. the way, they have all of this in Spanish as well. So I went through the training in Spanish, you know I’m a Spanish speaker maybe. But they also have it in English. So I’m doing it in English since the podcast and all the content we do is in English. In this exercise, you will have to complete the process of using a fire hose to extinguish a fire.

We consider it important to explain how the fire hose works. use it, you must first unwind it from the reel. do this, the hose and move around with it in your hand. The has three types of each with its own particular uses. To change the type of jet, you have to click on the nozzle with the trigger your control. So you spin it around, so to a fire hose cabinet available in this room for you to try before starting the exercise.

I hope this tutorial has been helpful. Brilliant! Let’s get going! So… There seems to be a burning smell. is possible a fire has started. It’s possible a fire Look around for signs of fire. Let’s move around. How about here? Not here. There is a fire in the building. Press the fire alarm to alert your coworkers. Let’s go to the fire alarm.

It’s okay. the phone to call the emergency services. This is what I failed to do every single time I tried this before. find no phones here. Ladies and gentlemen, you’re going to make fun of me. I’m sure you’re going to see this later and say that Rob, phone was over there. I tried it several times, but then it’s like, well, I either put off the fire or I find the phone. Given that situation, I decided to take out the fire. That’s actually going to take out the fire. Yeah.

Yes, count it. Here. Let’s take this away. And now come back so can turn it Where was the fire? Here you go.

I think I’m use a mitchpac to get peter to the fire

The client is passed.

Let’s see… Okay, fire is running out! Like, doing so much, I don’t know. Let’s set it out. Outlosing visual contact. Okay. Hey! Didn’t give me enough time to finish, right? Observations, let’s see. Switch off the power. Yeah, I couldn’t switch off the power. It didn’t give me time. Come on. Remember, when you open the water, you should aim at the ground. That’s what I did. I think I…

I think I did that, didn’t I? Maybe I was, I was doing like this, I think. All right. Fire extinguishing, when attacking the fire, you should do so from the edges towards the center. We did that, right? Check the pressure gauge. FHC for use, position yourself, put out the fire. did all of these things. I didn’t switch off. I know. And I didn’t find the phone. I did not find the phone. Where is the frigging phone? Maybe I can check it out now. What else?

Spray water at the base of the flames. Yes! I think I did that. Use the right type of jet. Yes, I had a… I had an insight on this one. The cone, I saw it from before. Let’s do it. you want… No, actually, I think we can walk around here. No, I can’t walk anymore. I’m tempted to restart. Just to find the phone. I just want to find the phone this time. Maybe I’m gonna burn up. But I need to find the phone.

It is possible a fire has started. There you are. There’s a fire. around the scenario for signs of fire. Fire! Yeah, there’s a fire. So where’s the fire alarm? There’s a fire, yeah. Now it’s time for you to say, wow, there’s a fire. There is a fire in the building. Press the fire alarm to alert your coworkers. that the fire alarm? No, it’s not. Right here, there you go. Fire alarm. I must look very ridiculous moving like this. The phone! Where is…

Think I found the phone, ladies and gentlemen. ⁓ I found you phone. I’ve been looking for you.

Emergencies.

Emergency. Okay, help is on the way. Try to extinguish the fire if you have the means or leave the premises if you do not. Switch off the power supply to the building from the main electrical panel. Main electrical panel? How am I supposed to know where that is? God lucky.

Open the cabinet to access the hose and make sure the FHC has pressure by checking the pressure gauge.

I’m gonna go all in. I’m gonna use this one too. is too advanced to use an extinguisher. Look for FHC. I’ll use BOTH Power user. Why are you moving like that?

Open here.

Open the valve.

Can’t I drop this one?

Stand in a safe position away from the drop this in the nozzle at the ground and open the water from.

Grab the hose by the nozzle and knee to the area at the sides of the finger switch. This is how you do it. finish the heart switch and get the hoses to the sides. Of course. There you go.

Target at the base of the flame to then a-sha, hang-gya, fa-sing-yook, sing-a-sing-yang. ⁓

There. Oh, this one’s bigger now. Last it was a lot smaller. Of course I didn’t do the phone call thing.

These are the edges, right? That’s another ride. Hopefully, let’s sting with this. We can that one through outside. No, don’t hurt the chair. Chair will be burned by aim. I’ve been too slow to do this. Come on! DIE OUT FIRE!

The pixels are lying. I turned it off. Oh yeah, there was a fire coming back. It was real life right? There was a fire out there. Chances are you put a little bit out and then, oh, look at that. There’s something outside.

I’m ⁓ on to your stuff The fire is extinguished smooth out to the protected nisc position and retreat without losing visual contact. ⁓ Then close the FHT.

Again, it doesn’t let me do this. All right. I correctly position myself in relation. Yeah, I was too close. Switch off the… So switching power was the thing on the nozzle. I had done that previous time. Anyways, good. You see now, honestly, if I were to be in a fire, fingers crossed, I will never face that situation in my entire life. I am a lot more prepared if there’s a fire hose cabinet than if I wasn’t. Let me see where you guys are.

here, right, so let me reposition this to the center. This is my center. Come on, where are you? I don’t want you here. But you’re here.

So if I do like this.

Right? Well, kinda. So I can look to the side. FHC done. Check. Interesting. Things that I found interesting about this one. very real, I like,

I’m not sure how immersive that is for you. I think it’s a lot more immersive than watching a few slides and somebody explaining it. And you know, it’s also cheaper and easier than actually bringing you to a place where you can pull out that and taking out a lot of water. Right? So it’s an in-between where you’re reducing the risk, You’re not taking people to a fire, which would be the best training scenario.

and not the best because it’s not safe. And something like the traditional, since forever, okay, let me look at you guys here. ⁓ We’ve always done that kind of training of, yeah, you know, some slides and somebody just explaining. I’m actually experiencing it myself, Yes, I don’t have the hose in my hands, but through the clicking and seeing how that’s moving around, it gives me a better sense. Like now I know I have to spin that thing around. I have to open this. I have to open the cabinet.

The fire alarm I have actually, I think I’ve pressed it even once, I know how it works. But the rest of it, like the whole opening of the cabinet and how you use it, which is ideal, there’s direct water, there’s a cone thing and the mist one. Now I know that when I’m attacking the fire directly, I should use the cone one. And I find that directly by spinning around the nozzle. I know I have to point to the floor now, which I was not really aware.

Exactly. Where should I be pointing the water to? It sounds kind of stupid once you know it, but you know, you actually have to aim to the ground for the water, not like to your face or anything, which would be kind of dumb. But you know, now you know these things. Now I have a little bit of muscle memory, If that were to ever happen. If you do this a few times, I’m sure you can almost feel like that has happened. Like not a few times over and over, just, you know, if I do it now and maybe for example, if I do it in six months again,

I am sure I’ll be a lot more prepared for a situation like this one, which again, hopefully will never happen to me. We’ve done some fire. I know this one is a lot more complex because this is one of the things that they showed me on that training. Let’s see if there is a basic version of this one. The idea of this is to allow you to train the correct use and handling of a fire extinguisher to put out a fire. And this is where it gets a little bit complicated. You have four different scenarios in which you can configure up to five different fire classes, A, B, C, D, F.

And up to six types of fire extinguishers. Honestly, I understand. the reason behind this is that depending on the type of fire, you, this is what I understand. Depending on the type of fire, different chemicals are more useful to put out the fire. And that’s why they have different types of extinguishers. And of course this training is more for sort of industrial places where you have a specific kind of fire hazard available. So you’re working with chemicals or is it one for chemicals if you’re working with, I don’t know.

Oil, it’s for oil, et cetera, et cetera. So each one of these extinguishers is sort of specialized. The issue is that, for example, if you tried, well, for example, I don’t know the example because I don’t know the theory. But if you were to use a certain type, the wrong type of a fire extinguisher on the wrong type of fire, you could actually light up the fire instead of putting

it out. That is not great. So that’s the reason this is so important, especially in industrial scenarios. If you’re at home, probably, the fire extinguisher that you have in my case, I live in an apartment. There is one outside. Just that one would be the best one available to put out whatever kinds of domestic fires you have. But think of industrial scenarios and where you can, just like the fire hose one we just went through, you cannot really train people by actually doing, because you don’t want to set out a fire.

So let’s see version information. Let’s open this. Let’s go see what comes up.

Okay, well we were talking about… Uuuuh I didn’t remember this. Mixed reality, look at that! So, something in my house will be set on fire. Let’s see how that goes. Type A, Type B, C, D. You see, I have no idea.

Okay. Type a, guess that’s the basic one. Mixed reality. Let’s go. I’m to be looking this way. I don’t want you to get into my own kitchen.

A virtual fire extinguisher. there’s a cool thing about this one. You can actually, they actually have a physical fire extinguisher Okay. It’s some more training.

Let’s do this. ⁓

Let’s play as the fire.

Place a fire here. My computer is going to be set on fire. my God. ⁓ Okay, my computer set on fire. must put out the fire in front of you using a fire extinguisher. Right, seems like a house. Check the pressure on the pressure gauge. Pressure. Grab the hose correctly.

Test firing by squeezing the operating lever.

Stand in front of the fire and attack it by firing with zigzag movements.

Move away from the fire slowly without taking your eyes off it. Slowly, slowly, slowly. Perfect. You’ve put out the fire. ⁓ Did it. Did my computer survive? Can I know? Mixed reality. You can see over here, there’s toys for my little lady. check fire extinguisher pressure. Checked. Test spray. Check. Attack the base of the fire. Base of the fire. I knew that from the other exercise now.

Extinguish the fire. Move away while maintaining visual contact. And correct extinguishing agent used. Well, of course I only had one. It was literally just flying in front of me. That was relatively easy. You know, for the kinds of situations that I am, that I could even be prone to participating in, in a fire, I think that is relatively good enough. Let’s actually do a quick one. House one again.

wow. This is pre-determined Flammable metals, electrical component… I have no idea about this.

I can, I can choose from these. Electrical component. Yes. yes, let’s do this. Virtual guided. Let’s go. Yeah. I heard that already. You know, we all hate tutorials, right? So, but they’re necessary. Don’t get me wrong.

extinguish the fire in of you. put out the fire in front of you using a fire extinguisher. Huh. No more now. Check your pressure on the pressure gauge.

Grab the hose correctly.

Test firing by squeezing the operating lever.

Stand in front of the fire and attack it by firing with zigzag movements. Wow, that was quick! Move away from the fire slowly without taking your eyes off it. Move slowly! Perfect! You’ve put out the fire.

There you go, put off the fire. ⁓ Move away, I did move away. Attack the base of the fire. Yeah, I kind of shot the pan. Well, the pan was on fire. Not sure about this. Always attack the base of fire. Burning material is located at the base of the fire. Well, what was the base? Was it the kitchen? Or was it the pan? I’m not sure now. We’ll see it in the recording, you guys will tell me. What’s the other… Look, and something very interesting that I’d like to analyze about this one is…

Look at that, the comments. They don’t just fire you all of the things you should and shouldn’t have done. You did it right. Nothing to say. You kind of didn’t do the stuff well. You must move away from the fire while maintaining visual contact with it. Fire can rekindle. You must be careful. Of course, I, the fire’s here and I just turn around and start walking, it can burst up or whatever and I would be at risk. What’s this? I’m curious. What happened here? Ooh. ⁓

⁓ I see it. It’s show. Wow. This is impressive. You see this sort of phantom object over here? If I do like this, there’s actually something real over here. For some reason, there’s a phantom object over here. I don’t know, I guess to make sure I don’t get there. Anyways, so as I was saying, this is meaningful feedback. It’s not a generic general thing. And how can it be meaningful? Of course,

You can argue if I did these things or not, but let’s assume that it’s, let’s assume because I’m, I want to say I did it right. Not because I did it right necessarily, but let’s assume I didn’t do these right. I honestly don’t know if I did. It’s giving me the feedback on the things I did not do right. So that if I click here on restart exercise, which I will not this time, it really tells me what it is that happens. Have you played, I think it’s,

Shadows of Mordor, it’s one of the Lord of the Rings, PlayStation, well PlayStation is what I have, it’s on many, many platforms. One of those games, at least at the start, it felt like when I was killed, which happens very, very often in that game, by the way, it gave me a tip of, ⁓ you can counter the attacks of your opponents when blah, blah, blah. It’s like, ⁓ actually I was overwhelmed and instead of trying to push through, maybe I could start.

counter-attacking a bit more and that way I could push through easier. For example, I don’t remember, it’s been a few years since I played that one in particular, but I do remember that at least at the start when I got killed like 500 times or something, eventually it started just replaying some feedback which had already given me so it didn’t feel meaningful anymore. But it’s initially, it was like, ⁓ so actually if I do this other thing, I would not have been killed. Mario, for example, doesn’t tell you that, but it’s kind of obvious. Like you didn’t jump, you fell down.

or you didn’t run back so the fire thingy hit you and you died and that kind of stuff. So this is giving you meaningful feedback and this thing of giving you the meaningful, almost immediate feedback or immediately right after the exercise is what we are usually lacking in regular traditional education. And why? I’m going to tell you this as a professor myself. Well,

If you do, if I have, you know, 50 students or let’s even say I have just 20 and they give me 20 essays. Can I give them immediate meaningful feedback from 20 essays? Well, no, there’s no way. If I work around the clock, probably in a few days. Probably if I wanted to make it meaningful, deep in whatever, whatever, right? Well, here.

By doing the thing and collecting that data digitally in this case, they can give you immediate, meaningful feedback. And it doesn’t have to be like we’re in VR, know, cutting edge technology and all that. But remember, you can also do this with physical games. you played this card. This other person plays this other card. you got it wrong. You got, you know, snapped or whatever that was. That immediate feedback that we can have on situations like simulations and games is something that makes it really, really different. So let’s.

Leave this exercise and test out the few others that we have. I said I was going to leave the CPR one last because it is different in the sense of how it’s played. ⁓ you know, requires, it requires hands instead of the controllers. I will be using one of my cushions there in the back. we have first aid and waste. I’ll leave waste management for last and you’ll see why.

make students experience an emergency situation in which you have to help a person. you have to make decisions in order to help a victim. You can use the simulation by letting a student witness the situation and then verbally decide what they want while you do. So what they’re saying here is if you have a class full of students, of course, you could also just be showing a presentation, but it’s not the same you doing it there or doing the CPR or doing the whatever. Then them watching you and the whole scenario, like you could be like, could connect this to a screen and be

showing what I’m seeing right there on the screen so that everybody else in the class can see it too and I could be performing those actions and they see me doing all the stuff in the time. Students can also make decisions themselves using the tablet provided in this scenario. The aim is to try to help the person quickly but without making serious mistakes due to the stress factor. Let’s see what that looks like.

definitely situation at random.

Guided mode for sure. Let’s see if this is different or if we should Of course.

You should analyze and observe the situation and say out loud what you want to do so that the trainer does what you ask and you can see the consequences of your decisions. Move around to observe the situation. Well, you can move around using the joystick on the controller. This joystick with your thumb and while holding the joystick, move the light beam to where you want to move.

When you release the joystick, you will move to the area you have marked. That’s how I move. If you see the tutorial they gave me before, you make decisions using the tablet in the room to grab the tablet, move your hand towards it until you see a green outline. Then press the trigger with your index finger. One click will be enough. Once you have it in your hand, you can select the actions by pointing at them and then clicking the trigger with your index finger.

Look carefully at which option is highlighted before choosing it. You can always call emergency services if you need help during the exercise. This simulates a real conversation with an emergency service when you will be asked questions about the situation. Use the answer emergency button on the tablet to answer and move the conversation forward. In addition to answering, don’t forget to listen to the emergency service and make the decisions they suggest using the tablet.

Pay attention and make the right decisions to rescue the victim. Best of luck.

Start the exercise.

So we’re sitting down. I’m sitting down here in theory, having some food. You’ll never guess what happened to me the other day. Do you remember that meeting that went on late the other day? So basically I arrived about one hour later than I supposed to be home. And as I walked in the door, I see the children there crying, frightened of

dad, it’s just that we were alone. You weren’t coming. And so, I had to explain to them, forgive me. Next time, I’ll let you know beforehand. But honestly, what a drama. They were both in floods of tears.

But anyway, by the way, let’s get to the meeting because if I continue to be late, I’m going to have to explain myself again. Look, there’s buildings and stuff out here. Interesting. Okay. Something’s happening to the guy now. Let’s see. Okay. How can I help you?

They know. Can’t move. This is a video for now. So I’m guessing now is where I can actually get to move. I’m gonna have to tablet. Let’s make decisions. Call admission.

slap him in the back. no! Uhhh…

Did not pad the button there. that would aggravate the situation. Interesting. Restart the whole thing from scratch.

By the way, let’s get to the meeting, because if I continue to be late, I’m gonna have to explain myself again.

I’ll check for the objects.

Oh well. Alright. So, probably need a lot more information and context for this one. Which I do not currently have. Oh, there you go. What to do in the event of choking. How to identify a total obstruction. Cannot breathe. Cannot make sounds. No, or weak coughing. The skin has a bluish tone. Wrap their hands around their neck. Your hand around their neck. How to proceed in case of total obstruction.

slap them bit and try to do that. Make sure you do it like this and put your hands like this, ask them to cuff, slap five times, compressions, da da da. Fantastic. Is there another one like this? What are the other kinds of situations? No, I can’t do this. Of course I’m already in here. I wash my hands. Kidding. Of course. Anyways, good. Now I know a little bit more about this. Very, very practical. As you can see the situations there.

And you know, you’re hearing the person coughing and it feels like you need to do something very, very quick or somebody might die. So it puts you in the pressure of that situation without actually being in that pressurized situation, which is great. Right. Let’s do a final one before going into the CPR. This one is the one that they told me, right, is more gamified. So let’s check out what that means.

Continue processing of waste. My hands get warm.

Respectively in front of you there will be a screen that constantly displays your progress. There you will be able to see how many points you have accumulated and also how many mistakes you have made so far. The more waste you recycle correctly, the more points you will earn and the faster the belt will move. Try to get as many points as possible by recycling everything. That’s just kind of thing goes faster and faster. Once you make three mistakes.

You have lives. have points. Yeah, I’m pretty gamified.

Let’s check it out. So center should be right here. Recycle the object to get started. Boom.

So this is, that’s cardboard, isn’t it? These are the egg thingies. I think it should be cardboard.

Yeah. It’s a bottle. That’s good. This is a banana. Banana should be to my left. Come to me, banana.

Banana. There you go. This is one of those. Perfect. That one goes here and the yellow one helps me that I actually do recycle at home, right?

Huh? What are you? I don’t think you are. Okay. This is blast. Yes, you stay there. What are you? Pizza. So you go here. These are, oh, you’re not here. This is organic. Think.

What are you? You are… You know you’re here? You are… I have no idea what you are. You look like something that goes here. You are…

Here. You are here. You are there. Yes. This is going faster! Ah! It’s getting harder. Here. Green. I’ve never seen green. Brown here, I think. What are you? Oh no!

And paper, you are just trash. You go over here. And this is a rotten thing.

That one goes nope.

bottle here, bottle there.

I have no idea. You are milk thingy here. You are here. You are general waste tank. You are general waste bloop.

That’s when

Well, look at that. sounds like I have many points. Three errors, that’s the most. Egg cartons are make it cardboard, they go to the paper. Yes, that’s what it did. Teabags go to the organic. Yes. Paper bags go to the paper. ⁓ Okay. Gotcha. Interesting. it, like the way that I’m, that I’m thinking about this right now is, you know, recycling is usually, it’s not something that’s fun per se. Like, that’s recycled. My daughter finds it exciting.

⁓ she’s two and a half, so, I’m not sure that works for everyone, but anyways, well, actually I’ll give that a whack in a second, but thing here is we kind of know in general what things go to recycling, but there are some borderline things every now and then that you need to find out. This exercise gives you that mental ability. Like doing this several times, I think it gives you that agility of, I find this and I know exactly where goes and I just do it. Building up that, ⁓ mental muscle, like muscle memory, so to speak of.

Oh, I find this and this is where it goes. Right. And getting it right. Just part of the typical things. And I was talking about my daughter and finding things fun. And this is going to take me on maybe a little bit of a rant, but remember I’ve said many times how learning is actually fun and can be made fun. It’s just that we are not as a society, we’re not sort of trained into making that as fun as it let me go to the menu. This music is driving me crazy. we said.

draw out, we kill out the fun every now and then. And that’s something that’s kind of terrible that we’re doing as a society. So I think there’s an argument for that. I would say, my daughter actually finds it exciting to recycle. It’s like, yeah, this one goes here. This one goes there. She’s figuring out things. Actually learning all by itself is actually fun. We find it as human beings, we find it fun to learn something new. So let’s

You know, my message and I’ve said this a million times, that’s not intentionally to grab out the funnel bank. I recently read a pretty long article about something like history of education. I’m not sure how historically accurate it is and you have to be able to just explain that, you know, it’s kind of accurate. But even some academics would probably agree exactly how this works. But anyways, the important thing here I’m saying is that whole history shows how this went from training for

obedience, know, compliance, and just following the rules, which made sense back then for different people to what we need today, which has nothing to do with that. need to learn life skills, coping skills, and to learn how money works. All a bunch of things which you don’t get trained on at school. And it went from being, he was talking about the hunter-gatherer who were essentially not distinguishing between work

and play, they were letting the children learn through playing, understand how to do a bunch of games and play. Of course, in a safe environment, yet also, they can do whatever they want, exploring the world, and that’s how they learned to do all those things. To now say, oh no, in the classroom, or this is work, this is not fun, and separating fun and play from work and learning. So, let’s stop making that distinguishing the same thing factor. And I could be even at fault with this every now and then.

I have my excuses, But anyways, using these VR tools I was saying before, we can try and cater more for that awe and that excitement in learning that we used to have centuries, even millennia ago, bringing it back into learning. And learning is important things, like nowadays it is to recycle. So let’s get back into the VR side of things.

Also, so that we can do the final exercise. It’s going to ask me to take off these things right here. The CPR exercise is a little bit different in that way. So this is simulation to help you practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR. In a realistic situation, you learn a protocol step by step on how to use semi-automated external defibrillator.

follow the guided mode or can try it on your own as recommended to you CPR mannequin to compressions any model will do just have to follow the instructions I do not have that you’re over here can see you here I do not have the mannequin so what I’ll do is I’ll grab one of the cushions over there and use it for that let’s go

yeah. So now I have to do the whole hand thing. It’s you see the hands in theory are looking like these things, but since we’re to be sort of pushing down the simulation explicitly asks us to take these off because you’re not going to be pushing down with the controllers. Let me get out of the area so that I can actually see where I can place these. Here you guys go. And now since this has a camera right here in front of me, let me see where you guys are. So I can stay here. Right. I can do like this.

See me doing like this and it’s detecting my hands. There you are. You see now my hands are here. I could do things like, so I can click like this to continue. It’s kind of a skill to learn very quickly, but it’s a skill to do like this because if you, if when you move this, the place it’s pointing to moves pretty easily. If you only move your index, I think it’s the index finger. Yeah. It doesn’t move as much anyways, guided mode two minutes. Let me make it quick.

you can activate the opening scene, start directly in the exercise. Show compression. I, well, yeah, it’s going to show me where I can put the mannequin to see if I can put it inside the area. So.

Let me put this over here and I’m going to grab this and put it right there. See? Ha! Now I have the cushion so that I can do the compressions. Don’t need to reposition. It’s in the perfect position. So I’m standing right here. ⁓ you can see my hands are in. Very good at detecting this stuff. So this person is coming, drops their phone.

grabs her head. my god, something’s happening. What’s wrong with this person? Boom! Down to the floor. Check for consciousness. I’m actually grabbing my cushion here. I’m going to grab their head and then open their mouth. don’t know if you can see this, but I’m going down now right here. Unconscious and not breathing.

Emergency services. How may I help you? ⁓ yes, this person is having this and I’m this and this and there, here and there. help is on the way. We’re re-keeping you on the line with us.

Find an aid group.

Come on.

The limits of the exercise are fighting against me.

There you are.

Apply the electrodes to the patient’s bare chest.

Electrode, come on, give it to me. There you go. Analyzing heart rhythm. Do not touch the patient.

Shock is recommended. Charging the device. Stand away from the patient. Super automatic. I never thought this would be like quote unquote so easy in that sense. Shock now. Press the red button now. You have suffered an accident when touching the victim during the shock of the defibrillator. I was touching apparently. Let’s try this again. ⁓ Restart the exercise.

Hehehe was apparently touching the victim, but I don’t think I was.

Okay, stars Starbucks. Like coffee challenge before.

Again, the breathing conscious and not breathing. Use the.

Emergency services. How may I help you?

Okay, help is on the way. We’re re-keeping you on the line with us. Please, Don T, hang up. Turn on the defibrillator with the green button.

Apply the electrodes to the patient’s bare chest.

Okay. Analyzing heart rhythm. Hands are Do not touch the patient.

I’m not touching the patient. these are my virtual hands. I’m not touching anything. Just literally stand away.

Shock now. Press the red, shock given.

I I need more cushions here. Let me see. I think I have another one right here. There you go.

I’m not sure how this is measuring the pressure. That would be an interesting thing. I’m guessing that it has to do with the movement I do with… I hope you’re seeing it. It must look very, very ridiculous doing this on a couple of cushions with these glasses on. ⁓ The thing is, you can probably see my head moving up and down and I’m guessing that that is what this is actually measuring, right? Well, I can hear the emergency services arriving. Hopefully.

I kept this person alive. Look at the ambulance right there. Hopefully I kept this person alive for long enough. So they car… ⁓ a bit tired from this. Final note, CPR algorithm. Not so good. Not sure why. See here, I would actually like, it says everything is checked, right? CPR algorithm 9.5 out of 10.

What I would be missing here is what did I not do entirely right? Chest compressions apparently 10 out of 10. Final grade 9.75. Cool. So, leave the exercise.

Anyways, interesting. This last one I found like, you know, I was talking about the feedback before, especially in the ones with fire which is very, you know, straight to the point exactly asking what it was expecting out of me and what it got wrong that I loved. And it’s exactly what I was kind of missing on this exercise. I think it’s one of the few things again, being a non expert in any of let me, I’m going to check now. can see me. Yeah, you can see me here. boom, boom. It’s moving up and down.

Right there. Anyways, ⁓ that was exactly what I was missing on this one. didn’t, I didn’t really understand. Don’t get me wrong. 9.5 out of 10 is amazing, but I’m, if I had gotten seven out of 10, maybe it would give me more detailed feedback or maybe the check marks over there would have been enough for me to understand what I didn’t do right. And maybe you can research again, typically this is with a, actual trainer was there on spot helping them or us as students that was we’re learning.

understand how this goes a little bit better, but that would have been one of the things I would have missed. the exercise, as you can see, it’s very practical. You can even do like I was doing these two cushions, one on top of the other, on the second back. It can be an actual mannequin that you can have there, one of those like real things for mannequins. And again, you could do the mannequin and just the mannequin just to test out the CPR.

But being in the VR, you probably hopefully saw very well what I was doing inside the VR. It’s just entirely different. It feels different because it is different. It’s not just, let me do this on some mannequin You’re inside and your brain is telling you there’s a person lying there, right? You’re helping them. You’re doing all those things hand on hand, one after another so that you can actually

help them. I think I’m actually going to record something after this. As part of that, you’ll probably see me by the way, know, shorts here. Don’t judge me. It’s summer here in Madrid, very, very warm air conditioning on and still super warm. But I’ll probably be wearing something different. I don’t think I’m going to do that recording today where I do a little bit more of a debriefing and looking back into it and what could be some potential things that it is something that you think is interesting you could do with yourself. So for now, I’m signing

Rob Alvarez (50:10)
So as I said before, I was going to record this part in a separate time, different t-shirt in the studio, So we’re out of that side of the headquarters, so to speak. So ⁓ first disclaimer, I’ve mentioned this before, but I want to make sure that I am super clear about this. This is a sponsored episode. I am getting compensated, yes. Yet, of course, I’m being ethical about it. I’m not saying anything I wouldn’t say when I’m not being compensated. I wouldn’t sort of say this is great when it’s not. I’m actually giving.

all the honest feedback I can. And what the agreement was that I would receive these materials, test them out. And that is exactly what I’m doing in this, let’s call it review.

In that same vein, here are the links in case you want to figure out anything else. They’re also below in the description. Let me say them out loud for you. professorgame.com/ludus-vr-demo for the demo free demo you can get if you’re interested in these trainings or also you can get a free guide, which is at professorgame.com/free-ludus-guide. So you can find those there or you can just go to the description and click them there. Also.

gave some feedback when I was doing the fire extinguishers and all that. And I am now not expert in the area. I said it before. I’m going to say it again. I am not an expert. It’s also true that if you are into health and safety of workplaces and even homes, you’re probably laughing at some of the stuff that I did there. Also keep in mind that there is more to those trainings than I was able to share because of my complete ignorance. Well, now I’m a little bit less ignorant.

about the whole topic. Among them, the kinds of fire extinguishers that you can use, how those things can mix up and make a more interesting episode. I’ve never been in industrial settings where this is like a huge thing that can be done. And these trainings are geared exactly towards that. At least to the best of my knowledge, these are very accurate ways to simulate all of that. So keep that in mind if you’re interested again. If you wanna know more, just find that out there.

These guys offer free demos, they have guides. Like there’s many ways to see if this is something that is interesting for you. And finally, for the CPR exercise, I gave that feedback. I shared, as I said before, this is a sponsored episode. So I shared it with the sponsors. One of the things they told me was, was saying, which I stand by, it gave me the 9.5 out of 10. And I was like, well, yeah, but I’d like to know what actually happened. So it is true, and I checked this, that the thing is,

They, and again, I did mention this, like if there was a training on site, whether virtually or physically, they would have given me this feedback. Like they would have delved deeper. And this is an important part of this kind of training. but what I was getting at is that while I was performing the CPR, I did get some feedback. I just didn’t check it out. I just didn’t realize it maybe soon enough. I, or I didn’t remember at the moment. I have no idea what exactly happened. I just wanted to say that the feedback was actually there.

And I could have actioned upon that because they observed that say, but Rob, you actually had this thing over here and completely true. I just wanted to clarify that for both our sakes, being accurate and what I am saying. So definitely to wrap this up, I would give this a ⁓ great passing grade in terms of what I do know, which in this case is about getting people engaged.

and learning with something actionable that they can apply out of the training. It’s not just about having all this theory that then is sort of a nebulous and then you can’t do much with. Not with the actual content. As I shared already in these disclaimers, I am not an expert. The closest one that could be a little, a teeny tiny bit of an expert is in the recycling one. And I’m definitely not an expert at all. Maybe I know more than some people, but I’m not an expert in any capacity for sure.

So passing, great, passing, grade at least in my view, from all the stuff that’s there, we could sit down and spend hours seeing what could be improved. And I’m sure that there are many things that we could do along those lines. However, given what they are after and what they’re there to achieve, I would definitely say it is very, very good. It’s something that if you’re interested in this, I would invite you to check that out. And finally, I really…

I’d be really interested in knowing what you thought about this episode, whether it’s in the comments, you you hit reply, it’s replying to an email. If you’re in our community on Skool like whatever that looks like, I’d really love to know what you think about this content, this kind of content. It’s sponsored, but it’s also sort of dedicated and going specifically into a piece of something, some piece of a solution that is gamified in some way, or form, and that I’m giving feedback on. So without further ado, at least.

For now, as you know, and for today, it is time to say that it’s game over.
